Subjects and Structure

The IB-Diploma course is a two-year course equivalent to the 2nd and 3rd year of the Danish stx. There are six subject groups containing a number of elective subjects. At Grenaa Gymnasium you can choose the following subjects within the different groups.

HL = Higher Level (5 lessons per week) SL = Standard Level (3 lessons per week)

How do you choose?

You must choose six subjects, one from each of the groups. Three of the chosen subjects must be at Higher Level. All subjects take two years. Furthermore, you must complete the following:

• Extended Essay: A written project (4000 words), where you will investigate a topic of individual interest.
• Theory of knowledge: An interdisciplinary subject where you will explore the nature of knowledge across disciplines.
• Creativity, Action, Service (CAS): The CAS programme encourages students to be involved in artistic pursuits, sports and social work outside of school hours.
